The Niemitz Family on Green Mountain

As a creative person, my mind is always thinking of ideas for shoots, for home decoration, for paintings.. and this is one of those ideas that has been floating around in my head for years. Give me the sweetest family + a cozy fireplace + a dog + a log cabin and all my dreams would come true. When I stumbled upon this cozy log cabin on Green Mountain I knew I just HAD to convince Sarah and Ben we needed to shoot their family photos inside. Lucky for me, these guys are super laid back and love the outdoors and being warm and cozy, so this was right up their alley too.

We brought blankets, candles, books, a cute dog named Baxter, some scarves, a deer head, coffee and an anthropologie "n" to place on the mantle. Add the cutest little Riley girl you can find and the session became magic. It was the perfect amount of chilly on this early November day, and the leaves from the falling trees would float in through the cabin's open windows.

It is always fun to watch something you've been planning in your head come to life.. especially when you place an amazing family in the middle of the scene. Sarah and I became friends right when we moved to Huntsville, and she's been a source of inspiration and friendship for me ever since. I love watching her and Ben love one another and the beautiful way they are raising their daughter. I'm so excited to welcome their newest addition into the world and can't wait to watch them add another little one to their gang.

Thank you Ben and Sarah for being so great and for making my dreams come true with this session:) I could just live in a cabin like this beside a fireplace forever.
